Favorite Places By City

Bordeaux, France

Houses of Parliament, 11 Rue du Parlement Sainte-Catherine, for a pint of English beer and great music. Anglophone-friendly, most of the bartenders and a fair portion of the clientele are English.

Karl, 6 Place du Parlement, where you will find the most delicious soup with adorable little ramekins of accoutrements. Natural wood tables and the friendliest waitstaff in Bordeaux, as well as free Wifi.

Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.

The Bourgeois Pig, 738 West Fullerton Avenue, for outstanding soup, paninis, or a cozy spot the the corner with a cup of coffee. Packed with studious DePaul students, it’s a great place to hunker down with a laptop.

Deli Boutique, 2318 North Clark Street, for the most authentic croissants this side of the Atlantic, and a wonderful assortment of imported food items.

Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A.

Mouton, 954 North High Street, for expertly mixed classic cocktails, impressive wines, charcuterie and cheese that make me forget I’m in America, and a bright and inviting atmosphere.

Tasi Café, 680 North Pearl Street, for an eclectic breakfast and lunch menu and my favorite bottomless cup of coffee.

Yellow Springs, Ohio, U.S.A.

The Emporium, 233 Xenia Avenue, where the House Blend Coffee is amazing, the Wifi is free, and the breakfast burrito is legendary.
